This is especially true during the winter months. There are known residents of more than 350 bird species. It is also a significant tourist destination, attracting a large number of ornithologists during the hibernation season. On March 10, 1982, it became a national park after being designated as a protected sanctuary in 1971. It is a World Heritage Site as well.<\/p>\n<p>One of India&#8217;s national parks, <a href=\"https:\/\/mahendraindiatravel.com\/\">Keoladeo Ghana National Park<\/a>, is an artificially created and controlled wetland. The reserve shields Bharatpur from periodic flooding, offers pasture for village livestock, and in the past used primarily as a waterfowl hunting area. Locally known as Ghana, the 29 km2 (11 sq mi) reserve is made up of a variety of habitats, including dry grasslands, woodlands, woodland swamps, and wetlands. 366 bird species, 379 plant species, 50 fish species, 13 snake species, 5 lizard species, 7 amphibian species, 7 turtle species, and numerous other invertebrate species call these diverse habitats home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of birds congregate to the well-known avifauna sanctuary known as Keoladeo National Park or Keoladeo Ghana National Park in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, India (formerly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary).
