The City Palace of Udaipur, which is actually a palace complex with many gardens, lakes, passageways, mazes, palaces, domes, and other features, is among the most recognised forts, palaces, and monuments in the city of Udaipur. The City Palace is well-known and a popular tourist and filmmaking location. The palace was featured in the James Bond film Octopussy.
The palace has been in the city for almost 400 years, and it was founded during the reign of Maharana Udai Singh II of the Sisodia Rajput Clan, who relocated the administrative centre from Chittor Fort to Udaipur City Palace. The descendants of Sisodias have built and rebuilt the palace numerous times over the years, and they are currently the owner and caretaker of the palace.
