Nagaur Fair is the place where one of the largest cattle trading happens. There are different varieties of cattle on display. Traders come dressed in colorful costumes. Visitors can make joy rides on cattle. There are plenty of shops selling finger-licking eatables like in any fairs of Rajasthan. If you want to see a spectacle involving thousands of cattle, then this is the fair to frequent.
Nagaur has the distinction of producing red chili. Between January and February every year and over a period of eight days, more than seventy thousand cattle are displayed at the Nagaur Fair. Not only cattle, even horses and camels are present as well.
Owners paint their livestock and dress them in elaborate costumes. They are decorated with lavish accessories. Cattle owners are dressed for the occasion with colorful turbans. Truly this is one of the bizarre but exotic fairs and festivals of Rajasthan.
At the fair on display are exquisitely crafted wooden items, some of them being iron crafts. All of these items can be purchased. Popular among visitors are camel leather items. The fair is not just about cattle trading.
Sporting events are organized such as tug-of-war, camel race, and bullock race. Of all sporting events, cock fighting is the most popular. The fair also attracts jugglers and puppeteers who show their range of talents in the most amusing of ways.
