Adiyogi is a magnificent steel statue that is 34 metres tall, weighs 500 tonnes, and is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. It was inaugurated in 2017 and is situated in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, precisely at the base of the Velliangiri mountains close to the city of Coimbatore. It is a piece of art that Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev conceived and which the Isha Foundation constructed.

The Guinness Book of Records has named the statue of Adiyogi Shiva as the “biggest bust sculpture in the world,” honouring an iconic model created to advance yoga. Shiva, according to the Indian philosophy system, is acknowledged as the inventor of yoga, hence the moniker Adiyogi, which means “first yogi.” The statue’s 112 feet in height stand in for the body’s 112 chakras, which are used in meditation. It is a meditation centre rather than a house of worship that is only open to followers of one particular religion, and it welcomes everyone to explore their own personal beliefs.

This monument quickly gained popularity as a tourist destination because it is surrounded by lovely hills. Coimbatore is around 18 miles away from the complex, which can be reached by bus or taxi to the main gate and then by foot or rickshaw to the base of the statue. In 2015, a 6.4-meter-tall replica of the same statue of Adiyogi from the Isha Foundation was unveiled in Tennessee, USA.
