In the holy city of Pushkar, Rajasthan, the Brahma Temple is one of the most famous and few temples dedicated to Lord Brahma. Thousands of devotees visit the Pushkar Brahma Temple to pay reverence to the various gods who live in this temple town. The major Pushkar temple is one of around 500 temples in Pushkar city. It is the only Brahma temple in the world and is dedicated to Lord Brahma. Although the temple’s structures originate from the 14th century, the temple is thought to be around 2000 years old.

Pushkar is also noted for its religious and tourist attractions. Furthermore, the location is said to be among the oldest, despite the fact that the temples that now stand here are not particularly old, having been built only a few centuries ago as a result of Muslim rulers’ invasion. The legend of Pushkar’s Brahma Temple

The petals of this flower dropped to the ground after the battle, and a spring of water appeared nearby. Pushkar Lake, or Pushkar Sarovar, was eventually named for this spring. The temple is within walking distance of the Brahma Temple.

Lord Brahma decided to perform a yajna in Pushkar, but it would be incomplete if his wife Savitri was not present. Lord Brahma requested permission from Lord Indra to choose a new wife so that his yajna may be finished. As a result of this prayer, the goddess Gayatri appeared and took part in the yajna as Brahma’s wife.

When Goddess Savitri heard about this, she was enraged. She cursed Brahma that the world will forget him as a god and he’ll be worshipped no-where else but in Pushkar.

One of the few Brahma Temples in the world

There are six Brahma Temples in India today, with the one at Pushkar being the most prominent. It is so revered that pilgrims travel from all over the world to seek the Lord’s graces. Temple of Brahma Pushkar is noted for its stunning architecture and a devotional atmosphere. The neighbourhood surrounding the sacred Pushkar Temple is full with unexpected delights such as street-side shops and eateries serving traditional dishes such as Daal Bati Churma and gatte ki sabzi.

A visit to the Brahma Temple in Pushkar is considered to grant all requests as well as bring tranquilly to the ancestors. The sacred Pushkar Lake is one of the few spots on the planet where havan is conducted to bring moksha and peace to the ancestors in the afterlife. Devotees are required to visit Brahma Temple to complete their havan from here.

Among the many Pushkar temples, the Savitri Temple is one of the most notable one in the Pushkar town. Located on the top of the hill, a ropeway trolley takes devotees to the temple. This temple is considered as holy as the Brahma Temple because it is dedicated to his wife Savitri. The panoramic scenery of Pushkar town is something to behold when you are standing on the hill where the temple is located.

Brahma Temple is 500 meters away from Pushkar bus stand. One can take an auto-rickshaw from the bus stand or hire a cab from Ajmer Station, Jaipur or Pushkar market.
